Dorset GP Alliance

Creating a visual identity for a new organisation representing the views of Dorset General Practitioners when key decisions are being made on the wider long term goals for health and care services in Dorset.

The strategic challenge

Building a visual home for a dispersed community

What we did: Message House. Brand identity. Website design. Illustration

The design challenge

When you're bringing together hundreds of GPs spread across a whole county, each with their own practice, their own pressures, their own patients - a visual identity has to work harder than most. It needed to signal belonging without hierarchy, professionalism without coldness, and represent every GP in the room regardless of background, gender or ethnicity.

The subject matter was complex and the stakes were high. But the feeling we were designing for was simple: I am part of this.

What we solved

Working with brand communications agency Dandelion Clock, we built a message house first, a strategic framework that gave the Alliance a clear, consistent voice before a single visual decision was made. The identity followed from that foundation.

The illustration style was the centrepiece: deliberately stylised, warm without being informal, and inclusive by design. Figures that could belong to anyone. A palette that felt considered and human in a sector that can easily tip into the clinical.

Typography and colour did the quieter work — creating coherence across a website, documents and communications that needed to feel like one organisation speaking with one voice.

The Website and Marketing Material

We worked with Tom to create the simple Squarespace website, the identity for the DGPA social channels, some stationery and communication templates and some printed marketing materials.
